Para minimizar esse problema na Universidade Federal Fluminense, o Laboratório de Conservação e Restauração de Documentos desenvolveu um projeto junto com a Superintendência de Documentação e a Biblioteca da Faculdade de Medicina com os objetivos de resgatar a informação e promover a conservação preventiva e transferência dos acervos para a Biblioteca. Inicialmente acreditava-se que o acervo era somente da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Medicina, mas foi constatado que existiam acervos de várias outras Bibliotecas na mesma situação, o que levou a se fazer a listagem por biblioteca. O projeto consistiu inicialmente em fazer a higienização mecânica, listagem em planilha, acondicionamento e transferência para as Bibliotecas de origem. Com o desenvolvimento do projeto, o Laboratório de Conservação e Restauração de Documentos localizou diversas obras especiais e raras no meio desse acervo. Com isso, foi necessário obter um espaço que tivesse condições adequadas para armazenar estes documentos. Foi definido um espaço, inicialmente ainda pequeno, mas suficiente para resolver o problema emergencial, junto ao Laboratório, permitindo um acesso fácil e rápido e os cuidados de preservação dessas obras. Assim, foi criado - o Centro de Obras Raras e Especiais da Universidade Federal fluminense. To minimize this problem in the Fluminense Federal University, the Laboratory of Conservation and Restauration of Documents together with the Superintendence of Documentation and the Library of the Faculty of Medicine developed a Project with the aims to rescue the information and promote the preventive conservation and transfer of the collections to the library. Initially it was believed that the collection only belonged to the Library of the Faculty of Medicine but it was found the existence of collections from several other libraries in the same situation, leading us to perform a listing for each library. The Project consisted initially in doing the mechanic higienization, listing in spreadsheets, packaging and transfer to the original libraries. With the Project development, the laboratory of Conservation and Restauration of Documents localized several special and rare works among these collections. Then, it was necessary to allocate a space with the adequate conditions to store these documents. It was defined a new space, although small but suficient to solve the emmergency problem, close to the Laboratory, allowing an easy and rapid access, as well as the preservation of these documents.
