Serão analisadas as atividades do projeto de extensão do Departamento de Letras da Faculdade de Formação de Professores da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro que viabilizam essas ações. Investiga o uso dos folhetos de cordel como recurso paradidático utilizado em escolas públicas. O gênero Cordel será apresentado como uma boa oportunidade do aluno de escola pública ter contato com a experiência cultural que emana desta literatura e toda sua riqueza expressiva, quanto à articulação de várias linguagens. O método utilizado foi o quali-quantitativo, considerando os aspectos qualitativos como a reflexividade do pesquisador e as opiniões dos respondentes quanto aos aspectos quantitativos por verificar as porcentagens obtidas através da aplicação do questionário aos professores, bolsistas e bibliotecários envolvidos no projeto. Como amostra, foram selecionadas três escolas localizadas no entorno da Faculdade. Constatou-se que os professores trabalharam os folhetos de cordel em sala de aula e desenvolvem várias atividades além do incentivo à leitura. Foi identificado que o projeto proporcionou forte influência no incentivo à leitura. Despertou nos professores e alunos a importância para valorização da cultura, ao deixar em cada escola a riqueza cultural que representa o cordel e as inúmeras atividades didáticas que podem ser realizadas com este suporte. Abstract: This study seeks to verify the impact of the cultural actions developed by a Cordelteca in the reading habits of high school students of the public network of the municipality of São Gonçalo, metropolitan region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The activities of the extension project of the Department of Letters of the Faculty of Teacher Training of the State University of Rio de Janeiro will be analyzed, which will enable these actions. It investigates the use of cordel leaflets as a paradidological resource used in public schools. The Cordel genre will be presented as a good opportunity for the public school student to have contact with the cultural experience that emanates from this literature and all its expressive wealth, as to the articulation of several languages. The quantitative method used was quantitative, considering the qualitative aspects, such as the reflectivity of the researcher and the opinions of the respondents, as to the quantitative aspects to verify the percentages obtained through the application of the questionnaire to the professors, scholars and librarians involved in the project. As a sample, three schools located around the Faculty were selected. It was found that the teachers worked the cordel leaflets in the classroom and developed several activities besides the incentive to read. It was identified that the project provided a strong influence in �the incentive to read. It has awakened in teachers and students the importance of valuing culture by leaving in each school the cultural richness that represents the string and the numerous didactic activities that can be carried out with this support.
