Tal destinação refletiu negativamente junto à comunidade universitária, pois representou não só o sucateamento e a redução do acervo, mas também o descrédito do setor. Objetivando ampliar de forma significativa o seu acervo, o SIBAJFES vislumbrou numa ampla campanha de doação de material bibliográfico um caminho seguro para alcançar resultados positivos. Foi estabelecida como meta a ampliação do acervo em 10%, isto é (dez mil) volumes. Do lançamento do projeto em agosto/93 até o mês de dezembro foram arrecadados 20.000 (vinte mil) volumes e 700 (setecentos) títulos de periódicos, o que superou em 100% a meta estabelecida. Com o PROJETO NOSSO LIVRO, o SIB/UFES não somente ampliou o seu acervo, mas também tem sua imagem fortalecida. Como conseqüência, houve um considerável aumento na utilização dos produtos e serviços oferecidos pelas unidades do Sistema de Bibliotecas. Os resultados deixam evidente que posturas novas e criativas e ações de vanguarda são capazes de superar as crises e incorporar a antecipação de mudanças.
